Yesterday we hit the streets to cover the demonstrations and protests outside of Hofstra University, where the final Presidential Debate was being held.
As we walked along Hempstead Turnpike, encountering everything from Pro-Lifers with graphic messages to "Rednecks For Obama," one thing was clear - everyone had a passionate message. Some chose to shout their views to passers by, some dressed from head to toe in American flags, and some even hung handcuffs from their wrists to demonstrate the unfair treatment of illegal immigrants. But of all of protesters we met, one man truly struck a chord with us.

Johnny Phillips, a musician from Babylon, spent hours outside of Hofstra University - singing and strumming his way through the political protests. Opting for a guitar instead of a banner or bullhorn, Johnny, a former manufacturer of ammunitions during the Vietnam War, serenaded the hundreds of protesters and spectators gathered at Hofstra with his message of peace. "This time I couldn’t let it go by without being out here protesting and setting an example for my children and my grandchildren," Johnny told us of his reasons for his peaceful protest against the war in Iraq.

We want to thank Johnny for allowing us to bring his message to our readers. We hope that Johnny's presence at Hofstra yesterday will remind us all, no matter which side of political scale your beliefs may fall, that we do have a voice. And the first step in making change happen, is getting your voice heard.

Hats off to all of the protesters, Republicans and Democrats alike, for stepping up and being heard.

Chevy Chase had fun with reporters outside of Le Cirque Friday night. After attending the wedding of Howard Stern and Beth Ostrosky, a passing fan in the street yelled out to Chevy, "Say Baba Booey!"

“Say What?” said a confused Chevy.

“Baba Booey,” we all replied.

“What does that mean?” asked Chevy.

After a very brief description of how the saying Baba Booey is often used (no time to tell Gary Dell'Abate's back-story there on the sidewalk), Chevy obliged the die-hard Stern fan with a hearty Baba Booey shout-out. Even though the poor guy still has no idea what he said or why he said it.

As if we needed another reason to love Chevy Chase!

Diddy, who has taken to calling himself Cîroc Obama, was back on his personal YouTube Channel this weekend with a motion-sickness-inducing message for John McCain:


It seems that Diddy feels the state of Alaska is lacking in black people, crackheads and crime - thus leaving Alaska's Governor, and John McCain's Vice Presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, grossly ill-prepared to handle foreign policy and world affairs.

But we can do Diddy's words no justice, so we'll just let him tell you…

On a serious note, we love that Diddy is politically involved and we have to acknowledge that he has personally brought many young voters to the polls that otherwise may have chosen to opt out of our democratic process and we hope that Diddy knows we're just having fun. We have much respect for the work Diddy has done with Citizen Change as well as his ongoing charity efforts. Diddy has raised millions of dollars for New York City schools and children suffering with HIV and AIDS, and he actively supports the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Children's Hope Foundation, Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, New Look Foundation and the ONE Campaign.

So, while we do kid, we always give credit where credit is due!
